"Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness" - Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a physical fitness system devised by Joseph Hubertes Pilates, which he first designed to improve his own health. It involves exercises for strength and flexibility with spinal lignment and control of breathing always a focus.
It is this holistic approach that sets pilates apart from other forms of exercise. Osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners recommend pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today. Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.
Th practice of Pilates helps to build stronger core body strength, improve spinal mobility and stability as well as muscle flexibility. These are key requirements for a healthier body. After suffering a bone or muscle injury it is common for people to take up Pilates to get back to a balanced body.
